1.5 Month update

Image
Has it already been over a month?! What a difference since she first walked in our home and ran under the table to survey her surroundings.  Now she freely runs back and forth and wrestles our dog and knows our every routine. She knows when to ask for food, when we're about to go to bed. She has her pick of doggy beds, human beds, couch galore and she's never going back! She's starting to learn how to respond more immediately when we tell her no. When she's chewing on something she's not suppose to. When she's begging for food.  Still working on not pummeling the toddler when we come home, but hey, it can't all be perfect. Now my daughter just yells a prolonged no and hopes she doesn't knock her over in her excited run to give her kisses. It's all well intended and full of love, but toddlers don't like losing control for all those moms who have ever or have toddlers. lol

Moments

Even though she's not our toddler's favorite because she knocks her down and it hurts to fall. The toddler always looks forward to mealtimes as she does the feeding of  the dogs.  But everytime she falls asleep, Tracey is never far behind. She's the first dog that will stay in her bed in her bedroom and not wander out to my room until way late or at all.  They are just so dang cute together and she helps her stay asleep longer. The warm body and all. lol At night when we put the baby to sleep, she is so torn as to where she should sleep. My room or her room. We leave the gate open in the condo and she can choose. Unless she seems a little hyper then I just take her out. Don't wake the baby!! Shhhh. lol

Puppy things

She's got the "puppy dog eyes" down pat.  She's a puppy by every right, she chews on everything and she is hyper and she is clunky and growing into her body.  It's funny watching her sometimes because her legs are longer than she remembers but she's definitely getting faster and more agile everyday.  She doesn't know her own weight. She's "small" but she is SOLID and when the baby comes home she gets excited and knocks her over everytime and licks her face while she's down. Our daughter is NOT too keen on that. We have to replace human toys with her toys when she's not chewing on the right things. She even tried to chew on my cell phone! Thank god I caught it right away.  Her nose is quite attuned to food. She'll sneak snacks right from the baby's hand. We have to watch her when we put out food because she's tried to be a cat once and jump on one of the fold out tables too. lol Potty training is still spotty, she's get...

Update on potty training

Image
The first few weeks we fashioned a girl doggy diaper on her and she was less than thrilled. Per the picture. (made us giggle). When I picked her up she was used to pottying on cement before the snow came.  So the leash was not her best friend. But after a couple weeks, she's used to the leash, she's used to us walking to the door and she walks to and lets us click on the leash.  She's gone potty outside, but she still goes inside. Ironically we have a crate for her, but she uses the tray to pee and sometimes poo.  The first day we decided to gate her to a bathroom, she hurled the gate and we found her laying by our other dog at home by his gate. Nothing chewed up and no messes after couple hours we ran to the store.  So naturally now, we just gate them together and move the tray into that bathroom since she's trained to that indoors while we work on outdoor training.  Some days, she sits and stares at the door, other times we see her start to squat and ru...

The babies

She knows the doggy beds, she knows the couch....so naturally why not figure out this little hooman's bed too? When I put my daughter to bed, I'm afraid I'll come out to the living room to find things strewn and scattered across the floor that she chewed up, or some puppy mess. (It's been quite some time since I've had a puppy).  But THIS eliminates that risk when she's laying with us while I put her down.  Of note, this was taken after I already left and showered and she was still laying there and she stayed next to her hours after until I decided to let them out for the night.  Be still my heart!! I love these moments!

Playing with toys and Graham

Image
They play like this all the time and even into the late evening when the baby is asleep and I have to remind them it's quiet time. She's solid so she doesn't know that her steps are very heavy and when they dash back and forth, they are having the time of their lives, but loud nonetheless. lol

Who is Tracey?

Image
She is a spunky, curious, snuggly puppy who is learning to enjoy all the space a home has to offer so she can run back and forth and explore all day long.  She loves a playmate and is learning to communicate her boundaries and how to share a lap of a human.  She loves sniffing with her nose in the carpet and head down making sure she gets every inch of the room she is exploring. She is food driven so it'll be great for training. She even tries to polish off what Graham doesn't eat. She's quick to see what the baby has available that she may forget and leave out too. lol And when she's done with ALL of that puppy stuff, she's perfectly fine chillin in that new spot she found the first night.
